madeleine
No sooner had the warm liquid mixed with the crumbs touched my palate than a shudder ran through me and I stopped, intent upon the extraordinary thing that was happening to me. An exquisite pleasure had invaded my senses, something isolated, detached, with no suggestion of its origin
... And suddenly the memory revealed itself.
—Marcel Proust, In Search of Lost Time
Memories are all combinations. There is always a long-term memory – like the Proust’s Madeleine - raise the new one which makes the new one more meaningful. In these series I combined the images (my memories) in a way I combined them in my mind when I come across with them.
These series could be considered as if the artist’ diary and a never-ending story. I called the series “Obscured” before but with the lovely touch of my agent it is “Madeleine” now. It is an allusion to Proust whom I adore as a great novelist and mentor when it comes to see and absorb.
